We took over the clinic in April 2009 and have enjoyed getting to know many of the previously registered clients and meeting new ones who have joined since we took over.
The clinic has been present for over 20 years and has been updated to provide full diagnostic and surgical facilities, which include an in-house laboratory, a surgical theatre, and x-ray facilities and dental ultra-sonic scaler. We are currently enrolled on the RCVS practice standards scheme and hope to achieve Tier 2 status later on this year.
The practice opens from 8.30am – 18.30pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays 9.00am – 12.30pm. We have a late night clinic on a Thursday night to 7.30pm.
There are eleven Veterinary Surgeons working within the Spring Lodge Veterinary Group, five of which are working towards further qualifications in specialist subjects including surgery, dermatology, acupuncture and emergency and critical care. There are 12 qualified veterinary nurses within the group.
Nadine Smith is the senior veterinary surgeon working at the Chelmsford Centre; however 2 afternoons a week and some Saturdays we have other Spring Lodge veterinary surgeons joining us.
The veterinary surgeons are supported by two qualified veterinary nurses; Vici Pittock and Sarah Woolman who also provide preventaive health clinics.
Our goal is to provide a gold standard of treatment at all times. To do this we often have to stay one step ahead of many other veterinary practices even in our routine procedures. That means that your cat, dog or rabbit gets treated to the best possible care – before, during and after their visit.
If your pet needs to go undergo a procedure within the clinic you can be assured that your pet will receive appropriate pain relief in combination with modern anaesthetic agents. The operation will be performed in a dedicated theatre, by a surgeon wearing a mask, a hat, a sterile gown and gloves. A trained Veterinary Nurse will continuously monitor the patient throughout the procedure.
When necessary we are able to refer patients to our Witham hospital where our diagnostic and surgical facilities are more extensive. Spring Lodge’s Witham Hospital is the only practice in Mid-Essex that has achieved the prestigious ‘RCVS Veterinary Hospital’ accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for which we are independently inspected every four years.
Patients requiring overnight hospitalisation are transferred to our hospital where on-site nursing and veterinary care is administered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Spring Lodge use Vet Now Ltd to provide their ‘out of hours’ service. They provide a dedicated service much like that of the A & E department and are available for emergency assistance or advice from within our Witham Hospital between 8pm and 8am and from 12.30pm Saturday to 8am Monday.
Finally, we have extensive plans for the expansion and of the clinic in order to improve our service to you and we would like to hear of any suggestions or comments you may have. Initially we will be making a few structural changes to the practice but we will endeavour to keep disruption to the daily running of the practice to a minimum. Contact Us…
